A chance visit to Porgai Artisans Association provided us a glimpse into the world of Lambadi tribeswomen and their heritage of exquisite embroidery work. Porgai is working towards preserving this dwindling art form by incorporating the use of traditional Lambadi embroidery in contemporary clothing. As climbers, it hardly took us any time to visualize the ideal product on which this work could be showcased… CHALKBAGS!! We immediately got down to work and had the first prototype ready by the same evening. Thus started our association with Porgai and we feel honoured to be able to present their art to the climbing community.
